Serious Bean Chili Add meat. Adjust heat with any pepper. Presto: the least expensive, the most nutritious canned chili on the market. That’s the opinion of this Texan who’s won several chili competitions, and, no, Caroline’s chili is no match for home made, of course. But the salt content in Caroline’s chili is not outrageous to begin with, and adding unsalted, cooked meat drives the salt ratio down to easily tolerable to those of us on low sodium diets. Adding unsalted, cooked onions will decrease the ratio…

Quite Good Quite a good canned vegetarian chili. Spicier than Hormel and Nalley vegetarian chilis, and not as spicy as Stagg veggie chili. Washington chili is decent just heated from the can, but much better if one pan-fries a shallot and some chopped celery or whatnot to mix with it to get a fuller flavor without having to cook beans a long time for chili from scratch. Obviously never going to be equal to a really good recipe for chili from scratch but hard to make time for that a lot of days.

Great vegan chili! One of the best vegan chili on the market. Right now it’s only $10 per case, an incredible deal.
